What I collect, and what I do with it.
This is the plain-language version, kept deliberately short. TrustDavid (Pty) Ltd (“TrustDavid”, “I”, “me”) operates this site from Stellenbosch, South Africa. I try to hold your information the way I’d want mine held, and to stay compliant with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
What I collect
- Things you send me. When you use a contact form or subscribe to occasional content, I receive what you type, usually your name and email address, and anything you choose to add.
- Usage data. Standard, largely anonymised analytics about how the site is used (pages, rough location, device), through Vercel Analytics and Google Analytics.
- Client portal data. If you have a login to a client workspace, I store what’s needed to run that workspace.
Why I have it
To reply to you, to send the occasional content piece you asked for, to understand how the site is doing, and to deliver work I’ve been engaged to do. I rely on your consent for anything you opt into, and you can withdraw it at any time.
Who else touches it
I don’t sell your information. A few trusted services process it on my behalf: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database), Resend (email delivery), and Google Analytics. Some of these store data on servers outside South Africa, including the United States, so by using the site you accept that cross-border transfer.
How long I keep it
Only as long as it’s useful for the purpose it was given. Subscriber details are kept until you unsubscribe. Enquiries are kept while there’s a reason to, then cleared.
Your rights
Under POPIA you can ask to see what I hold, correct it, delete it, or object to how it’s used. Email me and I’ll sort it. You can also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa if you think I’ve mishandled something.
Who’s responsible
David Liprini is the Information Officer. david@trustdavid.co.za reaches me directly. If this policy changes, the date above changes with it.
